A long time ago, I gave myself a goal of making a million dollars by the time I was 35. When you are twelve, this is a lot of money if you aren’t born with a silver spoon. Well, the idea of that much money is a lot, think of it this way. Let’s say, you make $50k/yr. It would take 20 yrs to get $1,000,000. See what I mean? $50k is a decent wage for a person to make, but to reach my goal, I’d have to be making that by the age of 15. So, this leaves me with a few options, but it all really does rest on my shoulders.
I am the type of person that really doesn’t ask anyone for a whole lot, but when I do, they know I need the help. I am speaking strictly financially here, not in the sense of something with a computer. I’ve got no problem saying, "’shit, I don’t know” and calling someone to ask them. It is rare that I do this, but I stay by my word and pay them back. This has always been the case. Personally, I’m a bit flaky, but financially I stand by my word.
This combined with knowledge, again, I should be able to do this. It’s like Theodore Roosevelt said, “A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad.” I’d like to think I’m smart and capable, so why shouldn’t this work for me? It’s like the recent surge of the book/movie/whatever Secret. If you think you can do it, you will. I don’t think I can, I know I can. Even amidst a financial crisis, I still think I can pull this off.
For example, look at Kevin Rose. Digg.com, great website, great idea. When I frequented slashdot.com, I always thought to myself, “It would be really great to have a website like this, where people can comment and rant about whatever, but on user submitted content. For everyone, not just for nerds.” Guess what, he pulled it off and pulled it off well. The guy is a literal fucking badass, who at this point, can do 100 things have 1 be successful and come out way over the top of the 99 failed attempts at what he’s done. Aside from that, loves beer! Who doesn’t love beer, you know?
Anyway, back to reality here. This is just my blog, I don’t plan to make any money here, but you never know what can happen. I, of course, do have a few ideas on my plate that I want to execute. Now I just have to figure out how, and with what time.
