Overall Web Adblock

I figured while I’m here updating this thing, might as well make a post of something I’ve been making use of.

The scope of a recent home project was to block overall ads, mobile and otherwise, without too much or no additional hardware while home. Ran through many iterations of trying this, from local host files to something like Pi-hole. That’s when I came across AB-Solution.

Pretty handy setup! It will install on your base router/firewall, if you’re running something like Tomato or DD-WRT. These are just two suggestions that allow you to gain access to a command line(SSH) interface in order to use more features like AB-Solution. The install I’ve been running this for awhile now and I can say, I’m impressed. The multilevel adblocking that is brought in from multiple sources, dependent on how aggressive you want to block, is very well done. It self updates, loads on boot, and generally requires very little overhead/maintenance to keep it running. Not to mention, less network congestion from the insane amount of ads on webpages today.

Anyway, figured it was worthy to post. Flux out.

Peace.
